Mountain Dew for Breakfast.

23 09 2009

So I have most certainly NOT posted in a while. It feels good to be back, sirs and madams.

What did you do today? Today, I went to school for most of the day, as I do every day. No, wait, I’ll start with yesterday.

Yesterday, I went to school for most of the day, as I do every day. That night, my family made the trek up to Des Moines to see a Bruce Springsteen concert, which is my dad’s favorite music. The concert was emm effing amAzing! They put on an awesome show. I can hardly believe Bruce is 60; he looks fantastic for being that old. We didn’t get back home until about 1:30 in the morning, and I didn’t get to sleep until about 2:30. Major-:Ome car

Home Alone in the OC.

8 09 2009

My dad woke me up today at a delightful 8:30 so the whole family could gather together around the Labor Day tree and unwrap our presents.  Just kidding.  So I could do my AP Physics WebAssign and work on preparing for the ACT.  When I went downstairs for breakfast, they had gotten me a bagel sandwich kinda thingy, which was a super-awesome way to start the day.

Stop the flora takeover.

Aaaaaaand that was pretty much the extent of my day.  My dad went to work in his office to get ahead, and my mom and brother went to one of his baseball games.  It was nice having the house to myself.  I worked on schoolstuffz until my dad came home, and we got some lunch together.  Father-son bonding = purrty fantastic!  He went back to work after lunch, and I played with Manny–our dog–outside.

Cake, Ice Cream, and My Grandma.

7 09 2009

I woke up at an appropriate 10:00 for the classic lazy Sunday today.  And yowza!  I’m a productivity machine!

I started working on some homework at about 11, and kept working until I left with the family for my grandma’s house to celebrate her birthday and cook her dinner.  I worked on the AP Physics WebAssign some, and blahblahblah I can’t believe I’m telling the story of doing my homework. The Outdoors is a New Concept.

5 09 2009

Friday always has that good sense about it, and today was no exception.

I started off my day with an (ever-delicious) bowl of Cracklin’ Oat Bran.  The comics were decent today in the newspaper.

In Foods class we took a test, which was kinda lame.  It made us name the factors in the number 16.  Bloop.

Foods is my jam.

Foods is my jam.

In AP Statistics, we got to go outside to count cars in the parking lot.  That’s really turning out to have a lot less to do with numbers than I expected.  For AP Spanish, I had to give a group presentation.  The teacher prefers improv to scripted skits, so we ended up having a mustache-themed house party in which I hit on the host’s sister.  I’m crossing my fingers for an A for effort.  For those of you guys in my group, you guys are troopers.  And Kaybee (the sister), today, you are a man! Poetry and You.

4 09 2009

So let me just say that NOT much happened at school today.  It was a Thursday, so it was kinda nice to get out an hour earlier.  When I got home, I got my homework done pretty quickly, but then I had to do some ACT prep.  I had no idea just how lame studying was until…now!

But!  One of the assignments I had to do was an imitation of a poem.  Here’s my version of

“Here Follow Some Verses upon the Burning of Our Marshmallow, July 10, 1666,” by Anne Bradstreet. Read the rest of this entry »

Bald Head/White Beard.

2 09 2009

Tie-Tall.

I started off the day today making 12 chocolate chip cookies and then leaving them!  In Foods class we made cookies, and I’m assuming my group’s delightful baked goods are still in the oven/somewhere in that room.  But whateverforever.

For lunch, I think it’s pretty established that urrbody at the table gets a turkey wrap every day.  We’re like a cult, minus the Kool-Aid or SWAT teams.  I am just full of references today. :D

I got to tutor in the Success Center today during my open hour, which is always nice.  Spreading the learning love.  Ya know.  Not in like a sexual way.  Cuz I didn’t mean that.  I know what you were thinking, perv.  Nope.

In American Literature, I got to play the part of Mary Warren, in the enactment of The Crucible.  Aaaaaaand apparently, that’s a girl.  So I was  a girl for one period today.  Get it?  Period.  Girl.  *sigh*

There was a quiz in Psychology, which wasn’t too big of a deal.  One thing I did notice on the pictures of Freud, though, was just  how bald-headed/white-bearded he was.  He seems like he would not be a fun grandfather.  But he might make a good headmaster at Hogwarts.

Catch ya on the flipside.

Fourth Post.

1 09 2009

Cracklin’ Oat Bran really is a fantastic way to start the day.  I’ve eaten that cereal at least once a day for a month, and it still hasn’t lost it’s appeal.  Maybe I have an addiction.  An addiction to fiber-intensive cereal for the elderly.  That sounds about right.

In Foods class today, I was a little bit afraid of getting the Captain Trips virus from Steven King’s The Stand.  Both Ryan and Joel seemed really sick.  Joel couldn’t talk and Ryan couldn’t hear.  They were a good match.

16/20 on the AP Stat quiz.  ’Nuff said.

Open hour with mah main man Will is always awesome.  What a kid!  We spun bottle caps like ’twas going out of style.

*sigh*  And I’m, unfortunately, going to be leaving my We the People class, because I have to have time to prepare for college applications and the SAT and ACT and blahblahblahcollegesearchblahblah.

I got home from school at about 6:15, with Manny waiting on the back step for me.  Dinner was good.  I love vegetables, I’ve discovered.  Especially yellow zucchini.  Nomzz!!

I did homework for the rest of the evening, except for a break to take a walk outside.  The college kids have definitely finished moving in, because when I went outside I could hear a group of men yelling “F**k yeah!!  College!  Yeah!”  They’re gonna graduate early.

Keep up the good work, kids.  Lata.

Third Post.

31 08 2009

Today was a relatively uneventful day in the life of Sam Jones.  I spent about two hours getting jeans with my mom, because all of my old jeans won’t stay on without a belt.  Yowza!  That one’s for you, ladies ;D!  Lemme give ya the rundown of my mall adventures:

JCPENNEYSAEROPOSTALEPACSUNZUMIEZAMERICANEAGLEHOLLISTERPACSUN!!!

That makes the amount of time there seem really insignificant, but, trust me, I was getting pretty bored somewhere between the first and return visits to frugality-central Pacific Sunwear.  To the nice woman who works there: thank you very much for putting a considerable amount of my things back on the clothes rack.  You are very nice.

After the mall, we had to burn rubber to get home, because my mom, dad, and brother were all leaving to go to one of my brother’s baseball games (in the wooden-bat league).  I did some homework and played vidjo gamez while they were gone, which was a pretty relaxing way to spend the afternoon.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get as much homework done as I probably should have, so my parents were not the happiest when I was up at 10 o’clock finishing studying up for a quiz.  I think they enjoyed the baseball game.

The weather outside was beautiful like a cup of “Beauty” flavored Kool-Aid.  I spent most of the time inside except for walking to and from the car, but it’s always nice to see Mr. Two-Scoops-of-Raisins smiling up in the sky.

Also, a special what-what shoutout to the ever-awesome Ricardo.  Ricardo, you never fail to brighten my day.  This blog post is for you, yo.

Peace.

Second Post.

30 08 2009

So I listened to the radio a LOT today, and a few songs stuck out to me:

“Boom Boom Pow”/”I Gotta Feeling” – Black Eyed Peas

“You Belong With Me” – Taylor Swift

“Fire Burning” – Sean Kingston

“Good Girls Go Bad” – Cobra Starship

“She Wolf” – Shakira

Is it just me or is pop music getting better than it was a few years ago?  It’s kinda like audio-crack, but it seems like I just can’t resist it.  Fortunately, I picked up the Count Your Blessings CD by Bring Me the Horizon, which is . . . a little different than the previously stated songs.

The reason for my intensive radio listening is that I did a fair amount of driving around town today, which was really fun.  I was with mah gurl, which is always nice.  We went downtown, and parts of the street were  blocked off for a sand sculpture competition.  Then, we went out to the mall and walked around a bit.  Then the lovely lady made me a fine dinner of chicken parmesan over noodles.  What a kid!

I just felt really good today.  I got some homework done, relaxed, and had a good Saturday.  I’m looking forward to tomorrow.

First post.

29 08 2009

So this is my first blog post, contrary to what the actual first blog post may say.  Don’t worry about it.  That’s just WordPress messin’ witcha.

Today was the first West High football game of the 2009 season.  The team didn’t win ANY games last year, which was kinda disappointing.  But I don’t really go to the games for the games, anyways.  Ya know.  Socializing with my peers ‘n’ whatnot.  It was pretty fun.

Friday may be my favorite day of the week.  I just love that feeling of getting to go to school and yet knowing that I won’t have to do any real work that day.  I really love school for the social aspect and the learning within itself, but I don’t like the amount of free time it takes up OUTside of school.

Other than that, I haven’t been doing too much.  I’ve been falling behind on my text messaging.  Trying to find the path to enlightenment.  All that jazz.
